Just a quick note to say that the ‘Furnish‘ furniutre exhibition for Bristol-based makers has been confirmed for July! This exhibition will be running from Thursday 8th ’til Wednesday 14th at Paintworks, which looks to be an excellent venue for both exhibitors and viewers alike. You’ll find more details instructions with map on their website but, for anyone who knows the area, they’re on the A4 (Bath road) heading towards Bath from the centre of Bristol, near Totterdown.
While we already have a growing number of confirmed exhibitors, we are still looking for more to join! Charlie Crowther-Smith (who is organising the event) would ideally like twenty different makers – there’s still room for several more! If you would be interested in exhibiting or know of someone else who might, please, e-mail me [olly.parryjones @ yahoo.com] or leave a reply and I’ll provide you with Charlie’s contact details.
I’ll almost certainly be exhibiting the brown oak drop-leaf table you can find on my Gallery page [yes, sorry, I still need to tidy that page up a bit!]. Along with that, I’ve got a couple of other ideas to explore the contrast between regular English oak and brown oak, where the tree has been stained by a beef steak fungus. I’d like to keep the tea try fairly simple so it can be batch-produced if necessary. While the key cabinet is another chance to show off some of my ability!
(There’s still a lot of work to be done on both designs!!)
That doesn’t mean to say that I’ve forgotten about the jewellery box/chest. In fact, as a search term, this has been helping my to receive a growing number of hits, lately… Only downside is that I would have to buy some more timber, when my big aim here is to use up some of my offcuts… Plus, I’m seriously strapped for spare cash right now! We’ll see what happens!
Thank you for reading.
