After moving in to a smaller flat last year, I quickly realised that I didn’t have the space for two of my Ikea Ivar shelving units. One was sold locally and, although I managed to squeeze the other in to the bathroom cupboard space, I soon decided that it was excessively deep and warranted downsizing. With that second Ivar unit sold, I had the funds available to purchase something more compact; again from Ikea, I went for the Hejne shelving unit.
As quickly as this past weekend came and went, I now find that almost three whole days have passed since I arrived home.
Cranborne Chase – for those who don’t know (just as I didn’t) – is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Dorset, very close to the border with Wiltshire. Salisbury lies to the north with the New Forest and Hampshire to the east.
This was a camping and walking weekend organised by two members of Brunel Walking Group and my second of the year.
We’re almost at the end of February and time is running out for me to make this month’s purchase, in preparation for backpacking the Ridgeway long-distance footpath.
In January, I upgraded to a pair of walking poles. Now, I’m looking for my nightly shelter. A one-person tent that’s lightweight, packs away well and is something I would be comfortable to sleep and cook within.
This is the final instalment in my ongoing write-up of everything I did in Cornwall, almost two-months ago. Posts about August’s visit to Shropshire will begin soon.
Here, I’m going to ‘review’ the camp site I stayed at – Franchis Holidays, near Mullion.
At around 18.00 on Thursday, I returned home after a very long long weekend in Shropshire.
It was my first time camping alone for four nights and I imagine to get a lot done within the space of five days. In this post, I’ll run over the highlights of my trip, with more detailed blog posts to follow at a later date.
At around 19.00 last night, I completed the long journey back from my four-day weekend in Cornwall.
Weather-wise, it was glorious and it appears as though this ‘heatwave’ has also spread throughout Somerset. I managed to get a lot done and it was a good experience. There’s a lot to write about that will come your way in good time.
