There’s one film that arrived through the post recently that I’d be highly anticipating for many weeks… It would’ve been quicker to have bought the DVD but I decided to play a game of patience. Bundled with that, came another title with far lower expectations. I’m not even sure why that one was even added to my LoveFilm Rental List…

Watch. Love. Repeat
In 2014, I was fortunate enough to be able to experience a number of impressive and entertaining films at the cinema. In this post, I’ll recount my experience of revisiting one of them, while welcoming another film inspired by the enjoyment of a separate film.
Jim Carrey and the Guardians
By now, I’m sure most people will have already seen Guardians of the Galaxy. If no then, you’re surely well aware of the film from 2014 and its rather stark popularity. But my second title from the previous pair of LoveFilm DVD rentals is one you may not have heard of, despite being over a decade old… It stars Jim Carrey and so, it seemed like it was worth a punt.
Walk the Wrath
When I first subscribed to LoveFilm, I would make an effort each week to hand-pick the DVDs that I would like to receive the following week, by simply upping the priority of individual titles. Since then, my shortlist has grown to the point at which I’ve found it more difficult to select any two from such a large crop and I’ve instead allowed the discs to fall through my door almost organically.
So, when the previous two titles to arrived on my doormat, I noticed a stark contrast between the suspected quality of each film.
Kick-Ass Films
It was about a week ago that I returned the two rented DVDs that I’m going to write about briefly this evening.
Elysium Vs. Looper
As those winter evenings fade to a distant memory, I’m finding myself less attracted to sit around watching DVDs at home on a regular basis. But one of the greatest benefits of renting from LOVEFilm is that you cannot get penalised with ‘late fees’ as the time you’re allowed to hire discs for is indefinite.
With the two films I’m writing about briefly this evening, both were in my possession for a good fortnight, if not slightly longer. That’s partly because (very true to my form), I fell asleep and missed large portions on each film across multiple viewings! But I’m now able to write, having seen enough to know more or less what I’d like to say.
Cloud Atlas
I’m already late, once again, in writing about some of the films I’ve enjoyed most recently but this is another case of one you’ve almost certainly heard of and the other which may be unknown but deserves to be up there with the best.
Clash of the 80s
This week’s DVD rentals have been about taking a trip back through time to a land of nostalgia…
From my growing list of titles to rent, I selected two that hark back to the 1980s.
