I’m sorry it’s been so very long since I last wrote on this blog. While it’s not an excuse or reason for this absence, I’ve gone through the process of moving home, over the past month. In this post, I’m going to share with you some views of my new home.

Adding a Mattress Topper
We’re not even quite halfway in to February and already, I’ve succumbed to what I believe is my fourth visit to Bristol’s Ikea store in as many months!
Not good, is it?
But then, neither is my sleep, which is why I went back…
Extra Light
Here in the UK, we’re supposedly in the midst of an extra-cold spell that’s likely to last the next two-weeks. Waking up to scrape a light frosting from my car windscreen each day… This only feels like what winters were like only a few years ago, before they started to emerge almost mild, by comparison.
I recently wrote about my preference for the addition of halogen heaters in my home and, on Saturday, I added a second to my growing collection. A day earlier in Lidl, I spotted something else that could help to brighten up my kitchen…
Condensation Tip
Almost every night at this time of the year, my single-glazed windows invite the warm-air molecules to stay awhile as the temperature outside begins to plummet. In short, this leads to condensation.
With wooden windows (particularly those of which are neglected from regular maintenance), condensation can lead to a case of wet rot as this water runs down the glass and is absorbed by the horizontal surfaces. Regular maintenance (painting, putty, etc.) can prevent this but it won’t stop the condensation from forming.
Living with ‘Lectric
My current home is one where just about everything (except for the water supply, perhaps) is powered by electricity. There is no gas supply and no oil tank to refill. Calor gas bottles are not even an option. If it doesn’t plug in to a socket or cannot be wired in to a wall then I cannot use it.
Essentially, I live in a property that lacks what is commonly regarded as central heating. In this post, I’ll be sharing my survival techniques.
Daylight, All Night
It was a only a few years ago when I revamped the lighting within my workshop with a series of daylight-coloured bulbs. Sources online had suggested these bulbs provide the ultimate working (artificial) light and that certainly matched my own findings. At the time, I never gave any thought to the psychological benefits a good lighting and it is only now – well, a fortnight ago – that I have decided to improve the quality illumination with my home.

Screw You Clutter
It’s almost time for me to share a recent walk across the Quantocks but before I get to that, I need to share my latest battle in the fight against clutter.
Clutter Update
So, I’ve been living with the addition of ‘excess workshop clutter‘ for about three-weeks now and my casual efforts to declutter are progressing. It’s still too easy to look at the photo below and to decide that it’s not getting any better but I have helped three more items on their way over the past week and, of course, I’ll be looking to repeat fear over the coming seven days.
