Having arrived at Lightspout waterfall, I now faced two options in continuing this walk…
I could retrace my way along the rocky route and continue up Mort’s Road to the hilltops. Or, I could tackle an immediate scramble up beside the waterfall…
Either way, I was destined for the summit of the Long Mynd.

This was it. A walk I had been highly anticipating, in the run-up to my Shropshire Hills getaway.
It began with a drive to Church Stretton, where I’d be looking to explore the Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley.

Many of you may not be aware that I now have a second YouTube channel (Olly Writes), where I intend to post more predominantly about walking and hiking. This leaves my ‘main’ channel (Olly Parry-Jones) free to focus on woodworking and DIY.
My latest upload to this new channel is a highlights ‘reel’ of photos and footage from my recent trip to Shropshire. I intend to release two further videos on Shropshire, showcasing each of the two walks I completed (both of which, get a brief mention in this new video).
All feedback is welcome and, as I currently have only eleven subscribers at the time of writing, I would also be grateful to anyone with a Google account who can click on the ‘Subscribe’ button.
One thought I had – quite soon after uploading, as well – was that I could experiment with using several shorter music tracks instead of trying to find one that fits my created timeline.
Currently, I’m working on a video of a recent walk on Exmoor, that could be uploaded within days. Beyond that, I’d like to be in a position to upload videos to this new channel quite frequently (walking videos are much easier to cut and edit than my others) and I’d like to also look at some of the equipment I use and experiment with my halogen oven, in good time.
Thanks for reading (and watching).
At around 18.00 on Thursday, I returned home after a very long long weekend in Shropshire.
It was my first time camping alone for four nights and I imagine to get a lot done within the space of five days. In this post, I’ll run over the highlights of my trip, with more detailed blog posts to follow at a later date.

I’m officially heading to Shropshire in a couple of weeks, for my second camping trip/British adventure of the summer.
My pitch has been booked at the camp site and, in this post, I’m going to list a few of the items I hope to achieve there.
