Mendip Hills – December 2016

Friday 30th December 2016

This would be my final proper walk for 2016 and I’d decided to keep it as a local one.

I headed for the Burrington Ham car park towards the top of Burrington Combe and, with an early start close to 9am, I was soon heading off, over the road to cross Black Down.

A Walk Around Priddy – June 2016 (Part 2)

Sunday 26th June 2016

Having spent some time at Westbury Beacon – my first visit to this area – and taken many photos, it was time to turn eastwards and find somewhere to rest for lunch.

But it wasn’t simply a case of taking a direct route, with a line of private fields ahead of me and some road walking to follow, before I would reach my next convenient footpath.

#Walk1000Miles – June 2016

I fear I’m going to be disappointed with my tally for the month that was June. It began so very well and I felt confident that I’d be able to break a century, with relative ease.

But in the second half of the month – and, what seems destined to continue in to July – we saw a large amount of rainfall among many grey days. Does anyone else remember the heatwave at the beginning of June?

While there are one or two items I could possibly do with, I’d rather run to the hills (literally), avoid the chaos of this season and spend the day doing something I enjoy.

Up on the Mendips – November 2015

Sunday 15th November 2015

This weekend, I’m planning a walk down on the Quantocks and so, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to write about my previous walk only a ten-minute drive from home!

I’ve been to this part of the Mendip Hills so many times in the last three-years that I feel it would be futile to attempt another extensive walkthrough on this page. Instead, I’m going to select a succession of my favourite photos, picking out the highlights and favourable sights from along the way.

…Some may say this is what I do in a walking blog post anyway! ;-P

A Priddy Wet Walk

Sunday 26th July 2015

In spite of the rain that continued to fall throughout most of yesterday, I managed to attend and lead my third walk of the year.

This means that, as far as the walk-leading rewards scheme goes, I’m guaranteed a £10 voucher, just in time for Christmas!
