It’s almost time for me to share a recent walk across the Quantocks but before I get to that, I need to share my latest battle in the fight against clutter.
We’re already halfway through February and I reckon I’ve got about 6 weeks left before my workshop needs to be empty. Over this weekend, I believe I may have secured a space in which to store (not use) my larger tools and machinery, along with my workbench. There are still two of three items that I intend to sell. On Friday afternoon, I had a good crack at sorting through some more of the unnecessary clutter.
My Saturday’s frequently begin at a slow and lethargic pace. I’ll wake up as early any previous weekday but the ‘knowing’ that I don’t have to get up for anything in particular keeps me tucked up tight in bed… That, and the fresh feeling of cold that besieges my inadequately-heated flat.
Anyway, after consuming the breakfast that you saw me make in a previous post; while doing my weekly clean a day late (or early – well, I never usually save a Saturday for it), something took over and compelled me to attack the mountain of paperwork that had wedged itself inside the bottom drawer.
After almost two months of confinement to cardboard boxes, I decided on Sunday afternoon that it was time to delve in to my 100+ DVD collection and to begin to declutter. I say begin because, to me, it’s an on-going process. If you try to do it all at once, it requires a greater effort and that can feed anxiety and stress, leading to procrastination and avoidance.
